The problem

Freight moves fast. The paperwork doesn't.

Most teams still run shipments out of inboxes, spreadsheets and carrier websites. That's where the delays and mistakes come from.

Documents everywhere

The B/L draft is in one email thread, the invoice in another, and the certificate is on someone's desktop.

Drafts that don't match

A consignee name or container number differs between draft and final, and nobody notices until the cargo is held.

Chasing status

Checking one shipment means logging in to several carrier sites and emailing the agent for an update.

Waiting on originals

Paper originals travel by courier while the cargo sits at the port, running up demurrage.

How it works

From booking to release, in one place

  1. 1

    Create

Start a shipment from a booking, or drop in the documents you already have.

  2. 2

    Draft

Build the bill of lading from shipment data instead of retyping it.

  3. 3

    Review

Share the draft with every party and collect comments and approvals.

  4. 4

    Issue

Lock the final version. Earlier drafts stay in the history.

  5. 5

    Track

Follow the cargo and see which documents are still outstanding.

  6. 6

    Release

Record the release and keep the complete file archived with the shipment.

FAQ

Questions

What is Bolbase?

A freight platform for tracking shipments and handling their paperwork, with the bill of lading at the center. It keeps every document, version and approval for a shipment in one place.

What is a bill of lading?

The key document in shipping. The carrier issues it to the shipper as a receipt for the goods and as evidence of the contract of carriage. When it is negotiable, it is also a document of title that controls who can claim the cargo.

Do my partners need an account?

No. You'll be able to share a draft with a shipper, consignee or agent through a secure link so they can review it without signing up.

Does it replace my forwarding software?

No. Bolbase is designed to work alongside the systems you already use.

How do I sign in?

With your Google or Microsoft account, or with a passkey on your phone or computer. Bolbase doesn't use passwords.

When can I start?

Bolbase is in early access. Send us a message and we'll get in touch.
